Driving

With a few adaptions, most cars can be driven by an RG driver. The most common adaptions required are pedal extenders, lumbar support cushion to reduce the seat depth, handbrake extension and some way of closing the boot.

Pedal extenders raise the pedals if the user is unable to reach them. If people of different heights drive the same vehicle, the pedals can be made height adjustable. The pedals can also be made to detach easily if there will be people driving the car with the original pedals

The DVLA advises "A person in receipt of the higher rate mobility component of the Disability Living Allowance may hold a driving licence from 16 years of age."
